The 'TECHNOAP' closed-end
joint stock company developed and tested jointly with "Magnitogorsk
Iron & Steel Works" open-end joint stock company the system
for early detection of slag during metal tapping from the basic
oxygen converter in 2000-2002.

Since 2000, the
'Smart Mould' complex was operated at the basic oxygen converter
shop of the "Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works" open-end
joint stock company.
Since March
3, 2002, till March 22, 2002, pilot-industrial tests of the metal
level sensor built in the protective plate of the mould were performed
in continuous caster No. 7 at the basic oxygen converter shop-2
of the "NISCO - Novolipetsk Iron & Steel Corporation"
open-end joint stock company. The sensor was operated in composition
of the 'The Mould Level' under conditions of automatic maintaining
of preset metal level in the mould. The main advantages of the built-in
sensor are:
- simplification of work of the technical personnel at the continuous
caster;
- improvement in conditions of work with the mould;
- improvement in reliability of the airway and cable routing of
the sensor.
According
to request of specialists of the 'Severstal' open-end joint stock
company, the 'TECHNOAP' closed-end joint stock company performed
investigation of quality of the finished oscillators at the continuous
caster No. 5 in January and February, this year. The tests were
carried out by means of the 'Dynascope' complex developed by the
'TECHNOAP' closed-end joint stock company. The 'Severstal' open-end
joint stock company presented the final report about particularities
in movement of the oscillators and recommendations with respect
to their adjustment in dynamic conditions. In both enterprise specialist
opinion, dynamic adjustment of the oscillators harbors significant
improvements in service life of the mould.
According to agreement
between the 'URALMASH Joint Stock Company' open-end joint stock
company and the 'TECHNOAP' closed-end joint stock company of February
28, 2000, the 'TECHNOAP' supplied, mounted the equipment of 'Smart
Mould' base automation system complex, and performed start up work
in continuous caster No. 3 at at the basic oxygen converter shop
of the "Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works" open-end
joint stock company. The equipment of the complex has been transferred
for industrial operation.
At the present,
combined two-four strand continuous casters Nos. 1, 4 and then the
continuous caster No. 3 have been equipped with the 'Smart Mould'
complexes developed by the 'TECHNOAP' closed-end joint stock company,
which include the 'The Metal Level', 'Dynascope' and 'Thermovisor'

At the end of 2001,
meeting of the managers of the 'TECHNOAP' closed-end joint stock
company and NKMZ 'Kramatorsk V.V. Kuibishevs Metallurgical plant'
open-end joint stock company was held in order to create the base
technical projects of the computer-aided systems for controlling
the production process at the billet and slab continuous casters.
The original readily
demountable stopper mechanism, supplied according to agreement between
the 'TECHNOAP' closed-end joint stock company and the "NISCO
- Novolipetsk Iron & Steel Corporation" open-end joint
stock company, has been tested during casting the steel at continuous
caster No. 7 of the basic oxygen converter shop-2. According to
results of casting, a number of positive qualities of the mechanism
has been noted.

The built-in metal
level sensor (DUM-VG), developed and manufactured by the 'TECHNOAP'
closed-end joint stock company, is tested at the "Elektrostal''
works. Particularity in this sensor is its installation inside the
mould.
