News from the 'TECHNOAP'
The TECHNOAP Scientific
and Production Enterprise and leasing "REGION" closed-end
joint stock company, Magnitogorsk city, have concluded the contract
for delivery of the system for early slag detection during steel
tapping from the basic oxygen converter to the Magnitogorsk Iron
& Steel Works" open-end joint stock company. Particularity
in the contract is scheme of financing, namely: the equipment sale
on leasing. The TECHNOAP Scientific and Production Enterprise also
plans to use the leasing schemes in the subsequent projects designed
for the "Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works" open-end
joint stock company and other customers.
In framework of
the bloom continuous caster No. 2 reconstruction in Nizhnii Tagil,
the 'TECHNOAP' Scientific and Production Enterprise and "OMZ"
prepare to install the equipment of 'SMART MOULD' complex. The replaced
system for metal level stabilization in the mould was operated at
the works since 1996.
The 'Dynascope'
system has been supplemented with the function to measure the ingot
friction force in the mould with partitioning into dry and viscous
components. At the present, analysis of newly obtained information
at 'Severstal' open-end joint stock company is performed.
Currently, at the
'Severstal' open-end joint stock company, tests in continuous caster
No. 5 (the 10th strand) according to the special programme with
connection of the 'Thermovisor' system are performed coincidentally
with the use of the 'Smart Mould' complex. Objective is to determine
opportunity for increasing the casting speed up to 1.4 m/min. due
to optimal selection of slag-forming powder and selection of optimal
relation between the casting speed and the mold oscillation frequency
taking into account emergency signals notifying about appearance
of situation which might lead to high-probability breakout due to
hanging, cracks, gas bubbles, and anomalous formation of the strand
shell in the mould.
Five representatives
of the 'TECHNOAP' Scientific and Production Enterprise have been
sent to the VIIth International Congress of Steelmakers in order
to exchange information on trends in development of continuous casting
and role of the continuous caster automation at modern stage. Apart
from taking part in the plenary meetings, each worker has made a
report reflecting one or other work in area of automation, performed
or being jointly performed at the "Magnitogorsk Iron &
Steel Works" open-end joint stock company, at the continuous
casting section. Subjects of the made reports:
- The system for predicting the quality of the continuously cast
billets
- Experience in operation of the 'Smart Mould' complex at the
"Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works" open-end joint
stock company
- The 'Thermovisor' is the system for monitoring the strand cooling
in the mold of the continuous caster
- Trends in development of computer-aided system for controlling
the production process at continuous caster
- The system for early detection of slag
General
idea described in the above report course is automation of the continuous
caster in order to improve quality of the products. All of the participants
and Mr. V.M. Parshin and Mr. S.V. Gorostkin, Chairmen of the section,
have unanimously admitted that the presented report course has been
very interesting and is characterized by unity of science and its
industrial implementation. The presented work of 'Experience in
operation of the 'Smart Mould' complex at the "Magnitogorsk
Iron & Steel Works" open-end joint stock company', describing
in our opinion the scientific and technical subject of the most
known and best product, has been admitted as the best one at the
section. Its authors are V.M. Korneev (the "Magnitogorsk Iron
& Steel Works" open-end joint stock company), A.D. Nosov
(the "Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works" open-end joint
stock company), and N.V. Trifonov (the "TECHNOAP" Scientific
and Production Enterprise).
